FROM THE GRAND STEWARD

My brothers,

I am certain you have heard about the Grandmasters One Day Class , where it is his hope to Rase 5,000 Master Masons in one day. This will be accomplished at 15 different sites throughout New York State all on the same day, March 29, 2003.

One of the sites chosen for the Grandmasters One Day Class is our very own Masonic Hall in Newburgh. It is said that there will be 200 candidates taking the EA, FC, and Master Mason degrees on March 29th . My brothers, this is going to be a spectacular all day event that is certainly going down in the Masonic history books, not only for Grand Lodge, but for all the lodges participating in it. As the time of this writing, we have 8 brothers that will be finishing their degrees, and another 3 or more that will be starting and finishing them that day.

The candidates will have mentors assigned to them for the day. They will assist in several parts of the ritual work, and will serve as a friend and companion to the candidates all day. If you would like to volunteer as a mentor, please contact our secretary by e-mail at ottoj@hvc.rr.com. Seating is limited so VOLUNTEER NOW !

For those who might know someone that would be interested and is worthy of becoming a Mason, please give him the enclosed petition.

Fraternally
R:.W:. F. Robert Reynolds
Grand Steward

FROM THE WEST

My Brothers,

We have sorely missed your presence at the lodge. I'd like you to consider this....if you were in need, would you or your family contact us? We are in need of you. Help us to bring our fraternity, and all that it stands for, to the level of brotherhood we have come to love and respect.

Bro. Don Brown D.S.A.
Sr. Warden

FROM THE SOUTH

My Brothers,

As you all know, our Grandmaster, M:.W:. Carl Fitje, has done something that no other Grandmaster has ever done, and that is to have a one day class on March 29 ,2003 to become a Master Mason. He is hoping to raise 5,000 Masons that day . that's one heck of a goal, it can be done ! Everyone of us should do everything possible to make this be the biggest day in the history of New York Masons. But this should not stop us from looking for good men in the years to come, this one day will be just like getting a shot of penicillin in the arm, but you still have to eat your chicken soup. Our chicken soup is to keep bringing in the new men .

Anybody that is interested in helping, you should get in touch with the Master of your lodge.

Lets make this day sound like a 4th of july.

W:. Thomas E. Reynolds, D.S.A.
Jr. Warden

FROM THE SECRETARY

Brethren,

I would like to announce the following Masonic Anniversary:
Robert W Archambeault II - 5 Years - 1/6
Congratulations Robert!

At our summoned communications on January 8, 2003, it was our sad duty to unaffiliate Kurt Lucy, Eric Lucy and J. Alex Cohen for non-payment of dues. We have not been able to make contact with them to ascertain their circumstances.

The Master has told me, also, to send notices to those of you that have not paid their dues as of January 1, 2003 and are two years in arrears. The notice will request a response no later than March 26, 2003 as to their intentions. Lack of response will result in their names being brought before the lodge for disposition. Any hardship, physical problems, or financial problems will be taken into consideration. You know who you are, so please respond. You may even contact me by e-mail at ottoj@hvc.rr.com.

It is our sad duty to report the passing of Paul Schwarze Jr. on 1/12/03. He was 84 years old, and a 54 year life member of Hudson River Lodge #309.

W:.Otto F Janke,
Secretary

BROTHERHOOD FUND

Hello my Brothers,

The holidays are past and many feel the after shock of the bills at hand. This could be a gentle reminder of how able we are to cope with tribulations that come our way. Many men, women, and children do not know how it feels to be able to take care of themselves and that is where we come in as the "Big Brother". We need to help our distressed and aid them to recovery. A small donation to the Brotherhood Fund would definitely get the job done. Please donate a dollar to one who needs it more than we do.

On a lighter note, my phone number has changed (removed by the webmaster). I can be reached by email at mdeavor@hvc.rr.com .Thank you for your time and understanding.

Bro. Leon W Deavor Jr
Masonic Brotherhood Fund Chairman

From Your Assistant Grand Lecturer

My Brothers,

I just wanted to offer a quick reminder about the Orange-Rockland District School of Instruction session scheduled for Monday February 10th. We'll be at West Point Lodge as usual and will begin promptly at 7:30pm. The work on the trestleboard is the Middle Chamber lecture and we'll be examining some of its history and symbolism. ALL brothers are welcome to attend, and I hope you will take a moment to remind your Master, Wardens, and Deacons if you don't see them on the rather long list of recipients above. This is also a terrific opportunity for Entered Apprentices and Fellowcrafts to join us. I hope to see you all there!

The next performance of the Hiramic Drama by the ORDMA Degree Team will be at Hoffman Lodge on Tuesday February 4th. Many parts, speaking and non?speaking, are still open, so please contact me if you can give us a hand. We'll be rehearsing on Friday January 31st at 7:30pm at Hoffman Lodge in Middletown. We can't perform this important part of the ritual without your support! Until then, I remain

Here's what we have coming up at the School of Instruction:

February - The Middle Chamber Lecture
March - Third Degree Historical Lecture
April - The Installation Ceremony

Yours in Service to the Craft,
V:.W:. Joe Leo
Assistant Grand Lecturer
